Sometimes, the things you get in mass emails are just annoying, but sometimes you can get real gems. I got one about how coffee filters can be used in many ways that both help you around the home and save you money, too, and had to write about it. So if you haven’t already seen this, it just might be great information for you.

Coffee filters are cheap to buy, and you can get them at the Dollar Store in bulk for practically nothing. Compare their cost to paper towels, cleaning clothes, saran wrap, and other various household necessities. Now think about using coffee filters in these ways:

Use coffee filters as handy cloths!

  • To polish shoes
  • To clean windows, mirrors, or chrome
  • To remove finger polish
  • To stop bleeding from a shaving nick
  • To wrap breakable glass or ornaments, etc. for storage

As eyebrow waxing strips

Use them to clean up messes!

  • As a sieve to recycle frying oil
  • To wrap tacos to eat more handily or to wrap other messy foods
  • To soak up bacon or other cooking grease
  • To cover bowls in the microwave
  • As a disposable snack bowl for chips or popcorn—then they can clean your hands
  • As a spoon rest or counter cleaner when cooking
  • As Popsicle skirts for the kids

Use them in other creative ways!

  • To place between plates for protection of china
  • To store cast-iron ware—they absorb moisture and prevent rust
  • In a plant pot to prevent leakage
  • As backing for sewing appliqués or embroidery
  • To wrap up baking soda and use in refrigerators or closets to absorb odors
  • To sprout seeds–moisten, place seeds inside, and wrap in plastic bag
  • To strain soup stock

Who would have thought a big package of coffee filters would not only help you wake up in the morning but also be big helpers around the house and keep you from buying all kinds of other more expensive products that coffee filters can easily fill in for.
