Freebies:

  • There are ways to enjoy vacation time for free. One thing to do is take in local sights and experiences. Search around your city or town for free places to explore by entering the name of your town with “tourist” in an internet search. You can also use Discover America. to find out about free parks and activities across America.
  • There are free packages for using time shares, usually for two nights and three days. You have to attend a presentation about buying time shares, and you should check with your Better Business Bureau to make sure the corporation is trustworthy. But, if you’re willing to abide by the contract rules and invest a half day of your time to the time share seller, you can have a free short vacation.
  • Search the internet for house exchanges. Spend a week or two in Australia while an Australian family stays at your house. You’ll both get a free vacation break, except for travel costs. People exchange all over the world.
  • Finally, there is one site that actually lists possible free vacations. Go to Dream Vacations to find out what’s available.

  • Big cities offer much that is free or that has minimal costs. Consider museum visits, parks, public walkways, and free open air concerts.
